It's been a while, so here's some political 'stuff' to hit - Biden, Palin, and one
STUPID celebrity whining about oil.
First - Biden.
I can see where this pick came from - Obama needed to counter the whole 'inexperienced' argument that has been very rightfully leveled against him. There are, however, NUMEROUS problems with Biden - from his wholehearted support for the rape of American consumers and the protection of the credit industry (which really needs no additional protection from themselves and their own retarded lending practices), to being even more of a DC insider than McCain could hope of being. He's also rather hostile, even ignorant, on tech issues.
Second - Palin. To state the already oft repeated refrain - this woman is an absolute
MILF. HOWEVER, she is attractive FAR more for what she's done in her somewhat short career in the executive branch of her local and
state governments than she is for her physical beauty. Not that there's anything wrong with actually being -attractive-. Not that there aren't other attractive female politicians. The problem is that
some of
those with national prominence are a bit less so, IMO.
Obviously, there are, and should be, concerns over her lack of experience in national politics. The fact remains, she's actually served in an executive capacity, and has actually been involved in real decision making regarding her state's budget, as well as negotiations with Canada over access rights for new pipelines, etdc. She's also sitting as governor of a state that essentially borders a more hostile Russia. Whoever is elected is going to have their hands full with Medvedev and his successor (if there is one).
Regardless, of the 4 of these bastards, she has more of a 'claim' to being ready to be president than the other 3. Personally, I think a 2012 run of her and Louisiana Governor
Bobby Jindal scares the crap out of the Democratic Party. Personally, I think it'd be a really neat run consisting of a pair of Gen-Xers, one of whom is all of 5 years older than I am. This 2008 season, going into the last 2 months before the election, is definitely gonna be interesting.
As for Diddy, this
article, quite frankly, makes me ill. Begging Saudi Arabia for 'free oil' for his personal jet over the even more personal
travesty of having to fly on commercial flights because it's too expensive for him to fly his private jet back and forth between the coasts. I'm sorry, but I really have no pity for him. His -monthly- fuel expenditures for that jet are DOUBLE and MORE what my annual salary is. He can blow a goat for all I care. He can whine about fuel prices all he wants, but he is, at least in my mind, now, the poster boy of conspicuous consumption and the continued rape of resources because of a misplaced sense of entitlement.
Don't buy and fly a private airliner if you either can't, or are UNWILLING to, pay for the upkeep, fuel and other associated costs ownership.
Mister Diddy, kindly take a flying leap, or do something worthwhile with the billions you've earned from fleecing the populace through the crap you call 'entertainment'. I'd link to the video, but the one that came from the already linked to
FoxNews article has been flagged 'private', so no one (else) except for his sycophantic friends can see just how selfish a prick Mister Combs really is.
I admit I'm not a big
environmentalist, but I do believe in conservation, and that we each have responsibilities. And hey, sure, he's earned his money and should be able to spend it as he sees fit. However, he's a complete choad for whining about fuel prices considering his wealth. Everyone else in his "class" doing the same thing needs to maybe spend a year or two living as a normal person before opening their out of touch and ignorant mouths again.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is my rant of the week.
